Great review, very helpful and I think I'm sold on getting this FF.

Question regarding the lens gear size --- Have they fixed that problem?

Hi Joe.

Thanks for the feedback, i really apprecite it.

Yes, the ex1 is mounted on the proteus rails using the shorty links in that review. The shorty links allow the baseplate to drop down flush with the rails if required.

No other adaptation is required, you just need enough length in the rods to allow the mounting blocks to be positioned at each end of the baseplate.

Hey Paul,

Thanks for all the level-headed information and great work. Great job on your latest video review--very well shot with the 5D.

Quick question: is that an adapted version of the Cinevate proteus rails you have your EX1 on for this review? It just looks like it's mounted a lot lower than even the "shorty" rails kit. I've been trying to get my Cinevate kit to mount flush with my DM accessories EX3 baseplate for non-adapter use, so I'm curious. I think I might be able to adapt a baseplate, but it looks like you've done something differently...

Anyway, I'm procrastinating and need to get back to work, but gracias for all of your sharing and all the best,

Joe

Hi Michael.

I haven't seen the Redrock FF so I can't really say how durable the CINEfocus is in comparison. What I will say is that it's extremely rugged and I wouldn't have any hesitation in recommending it.

I've read lots of reports about the Redrock using a weaker gearbox and having problems with a weak 'fixed' pointer. The CINEfocus uses a custom metal gear box and the pointer strong and adjustable through 360 degrees.

Hello,

First, great site and review. I am very interested in the follow-up discussion on durability as compared to Redrock Micro and these very inexpensive PROAIM FF. Are you satisfied enough to recommend someone from the USA to purchase the unit, considering shipping, etc... Thank you once again for a marvelous review and video.

Cheers!

Hey there,

The Zacuto flexible gears are really expensive, but it is only the joiner that is expensive, you can buy the actual flexible gears from them cheaply and then use wire to fix the ends together.

Here is the link:

Nice Paul! I've been wanting to pull the trigger on getting one of these. This looks like a real solid unit. Thanks for the video clip too! They should use that on their website!
