Grow a ‘tache for Movember!

Philip Bloom has started a Movember team in aid of the Prostate Cancer Charity.  Like Philip I lost my Grandfather to the cancer and my father was diagnosed with it around two years ago. Luckily my Dad has responded well to medication and is currently doing fine but it’s an ongoing challenge.

Movember challenges men to change their appearance and the face of men’s health by growing a moustache. The rules are simple, start Movember 1st  clean shaven and then grow a moustache for the entire month.  The moustache becomes the ribbon for men’s health, the means by which awareness and funds are raised for cancers that affect men.  Much like the commitment to run or walk for charity, the men of Movember commit to growing a moustache for 30 days.

Please join the Bloom Tache team and help raise some cash, otherwise if you could make a donation and help that way it would be very much appreciated.

I’m currently running prize draws for Glidetrack gear and a copy of PluralEyes based on twitter followers.  If I reach 1000 followers by the end of Movember I’m going to donate £100 to the Bloom ‘Tache team.

I’ll be posting all future updates to the following page www.pauljoy.com/movember

Win a copy of PluralEyes.

Update: This draw is now over and the lucky winner was @RoscoeJones

Thanks to everyone who got involved and thanks again to Bruce Sharpe at Singular Software for supplying the prize.

—————-

Only a few days ago I announced my Glidetrack prize give-away which is going to be happening on the 1st December and now Bruce Sharpe over at Singular Software has generously donated another very nice prize in the form of a license for  the excellent PluralEyes extension.

Designed with time-conscious video professionals in mind, Singular Software’s PluralEyes provides valuable workflow automation features for editing multi-camera, multi-take, and dual-system audio projects quickly and efficiently. PluralEyes analyzes audio information and synchronizes corresponding video clips automatically, saving video editors hours in post-production. PluralEyes eliminates the need for timecode, clappers, or any special production preparation. For more information check out my full review.

In the meantime, why not download a PluralEyes trial version and see for yourself how well it works.

Shooting in Croatia

2011 will see the 20th European H.O.G. Rally being held in Biograd, Croatia. To help promote the event I was asked to create a short trailer showing a mixture of location footage and shots from previous events.

Biograd is located on the Adriatic coast overlooking the island of Pašman. The area is a fantastic mix of rugged mountains, blue seas and best of all for motorcycle enthusiasts has stunning riding roads along the bays of the adriatic…

Panasonic AF-100

Video’s and user reports from Panasonic’s AF-100 camera are starting to appear all over the web now and I’m becoming more and more intrigued by this new camera.

The Af-100 uses a micro 4/3′s sensorwhich is smaller than those used in the full frame Canon 5D markII and slightly smaller the 7D’s APS-C sensor so it will be interesting to see how the AF-100 performs with traditional 35mm lenses on adapters. Certainly using something like the Canon EOS lenses will result in a crop factor of around 1.8 so using wide lenses becomes problematic with a 24mm performing more like a 50mm etc.
